A bespoke website and back-end system management system for a start up online gallery business. This full e-commerce website will prove to be a unique service for the art sector

Project Summary

We worked closely with the client on a consultancy basis to help formulate a plan for the business. We were fortunate that the client already had a very clear understanding of requirements so our main job initially was to help to add our experience as to how to make it work online.

The website enables artists to register with our client able to vet applications prior to artists being able to start selling on the site to ensure a high quality product. Once artists are registered and approved they can upload as many peices of art as they wish, assign a price and a range of attributes which results in a product within an e-commerce environment. Due to the nature of the products and industry we had to take a different take on the project from a usual e-commerce site wich resulted in nice features such as the art showing in exact dimensional form in the gallery, making it clear to customers what the art is.

We integrated a high quality zoom feature to ensure that the art could be seen in as much detail as possible and we also integrated a video upload facility enabling artists to link to a video about the piece either hosted on YouTube or Vimeo.

Behind the scenes there are endless facilities for artists to manage their art, set their pricing, view a list of buyers who have added art to their watchlist (with the option to send a private message to them), an overview of sales and monies due to them, plus our client has the ability to manage every aspect of the site including pushing messages to artists for promotional activities.
