Pay per click advertising has increased in popularity from the early days of Yahoo and Google's launch of their advertising platforms.

Whilst Google is the key player still in the marketplace (as it seems to be for everything these days!), Yahoo and new players such as Bing and Facebook advertising have expanded the use and application of this medium.

Its vital that time is spent analysing keyword usage and the CPC (cost per click) charges associsated with them, to make sure that you are targeting the best keywords to get an ROI. We often see Google Adwords campaigns that are targeting the incorrect keywords and paying over the odds for each click. There is a fine balance and a lot of skill involved in selecting and constantly managing the keywords and your click bids to make sure that you are getting a good return.

User patterns also constantly change so a close eye is needed to track any change in keyword usage, to make sure that you stay ahead of the pack.
